에릭 클랩튼(Eric Clapton), 잭 부르스(Jack Bruce), 피터 그린(Peter Green), 믹 테일러(Mick Taylor)등을 배출한 ‘존 메이올 & 블루스브레이커스’(John Mayall & Bluesbreakers)는 브리티시 블루스의 역사 그 자체라고 해도 과언이 아니다. 1962년 런던에서 ‘블루스 브레이커스’ 라는 이름으로 본격적인 활동을 시작한 후 지금까지 존 메이올이 블루스 음악에 미친 영향은 자신의 앨범은 물론 다른 블루스 아티스트들의 앨범에서도 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있다.
본 타이틀은 존 메이올의 70회 생일을 기념해 리버풀에서 열린 공연으로 존 메이올이 그룹명을 "John Mayall and Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton"으로 바꾸는 예우까지 해준 에릭 클랩튼이 공연을 함께해줘 무대를 더욱 빛내주고 있다. 38년이란 시간이 지난 후 무대에서 다시 재회한 두 거장의 연주는 연륜에서 묻어나는 진정한 블루스 연주가 무엇인지 진한 감동을 주기에 충분하다.
